I’m a reformed Idol-maker.

In my prior life I was a sculptor. I did mostly cast bronze works, wildlife and figurative, and was well on my way to a successful career. I have pieces in private and public collections all over the country and internationally, including commissions for the City of Eugene, Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, the University of Oregon, Evergreen Bank, and a major installation at a private aquarium on the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia.

But I gave it all up so that I can be the sculpture instead of the sculptor. The pot instead of the potter, as the Bible puts it.

You may have noticed that this site is lacking in images, and it is quite intentional. Maybe it is boring to look at in that sense, but perhaps it is worth wondering why that is? Why have we been conditioned to think that an image is worth a thousand words? There is a place for images, after all the tabernacle had images of almond flowers and cherubim, and we humans were made in the image of God. But who is God but the WORD? And it was the word who wrote the second commandment, telling us not to make any images. Images surround us day in and day out, yet we somehow think that the second commandment doesn’t apply to any of those things. I think it is time to reconsider.

If we stop making images, what will we have left to look at? Perhaps we can start looking at nature, the Creation again and begin to learn about the things that Paul mentioned in Romans:

For since the Creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse

Romans 1:20

This is the focus of all of my studies lately, and it is my sincere hope that some of it can stir up something that has been missing in your walk.

Through the Love of Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah,
